Building on last month’s article about contrast, lighting and composition in newsprint photography, here are some tips for achieving a natural, lively composition:
• Vary height as well as size, shape and color.
•Overlap strong geometrical shapes and rotate similar shapes so they don’t all face the same way.
• Add props to large bare surfaces or move items closer to the camera.
•Mixed items (like a family playing or a salad) should look mixed, not placed.
•Generally, close-ups are more interesting.

grid over the view.
–Place the subject at one of the four line intersections.
