Developing Food Publicity Strategies

Editorial Food Publicity Beginnings
In 1974, David Selders decided to parlay his 30 years of advertising experience into a new venture — Family Features. By providing free quality content that consisted of full page editorial features for the media and developing state-of-the art tracking reports for marketers, David created a unique service that delivered high impact editorial editorial content to newspapers and allowed top companies to successfully market products with measurable results and accountability.

Food Marketing Industry Leadership

International Association of Culinary ProfessionalsIn 1985, Family Features joined with Culinary Arts & Services, to sponsor the first food publicity seminar. The continuing need for such professional growth opportunities prompted Family Features to underwrite the development of the Food Marketing Communicators Association which later became the Marketing Communicators section of the
International Association of Culinary Professionals.

Development of Online PR Distribution Services
To keep pace with the explosive growth of online publishing in the 1990s, Family Features launched The Culinary CyberCity as a private Internet bulletin board for editors, marketers and other food professionals. The service became www.culinary.net in 1996. Today, this site delivers a wealth of food and lifestyle information and services to consumers, media and marketers.
