MISSION,
KS (December 13, 2004) - To
help publicize local and national hunger relief efforts, Family
Features Editorial Syndicate, in cooperation with General
Mills, Inc., Campbell Soup Company and Nestlé USA,
Inc. has produced and distributed "Share
The Bounty - Feed the Hungry" - a free, fully formatted
editorial feature for newspapers and magazines across the
United States.
Share
the Bounty , designed as a full-page, full color editorial
feature, seeks to raise awareness of hunger relief, and highlight
local and national efforts to help the hungry. Family Features
made the feature available to thousands of newspapers,
magazines and online sites, and estimates are that 25 million
people will see the feature in their local food and lifestyle
section.
Within
the feature, readers will find a number of ways they can help
the hungry - from community programs to national organizations.
In addition, General Mills, Campbell's and Nestlé's
have contributed their favorite recipes to the feature to
serve as tasty examples for fund-raising potluck dinners and
bake sales.
Editors
are encouraged to run the feature to generate public and media
awareness of hunger issues and to help raise public
contributions to hunger relief organizations during
the post holiday season - a time when food bank stores are
typically in greatest need of donations. The feature was also
designed to support localized content so editors can highlight
their own community's efforts to feed the hungry.
"We
want to thank our industry sponsors and the publications in
our syndication network for helping in this worthy cause"
says Dena Strum Klein , President of Family Features. "The
Department of Agriculture recently released a report indicating
that nearly 13 million American families didn't have enough
food or worried about someone in the family going hungry last
year. As we celebrate our 30th year as a syndicated provider
of food and lifestyle content, we believe this feature is
one of the ways we can put our resources to work to give back
to those less fortunate. Publicizing community and corporate
initiatives, and such notable organizations as America 's
Second Harvest, The Great American
Bake Sale program, sponsored by Parade Magazine and Share
Our Strength, and The Hunger Site is our way of saying
thank you to those who do so much good for so many."
