steve for blog 3 medium minAs Senior Account Manager, Steve Wilson Jr. has become a driving force for Family Features, applying his skills to cultivate new and existing business relationships with clients. He brings years of experience and a range of abilities to the sales team and the company as a whole. Learn more about Wilson's education, proven track record and expert communication skills:

What is your educational background? What did it teach you?

I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration with a marketing minor from Benedictine College. It taught me the science of marketing and advertising, and how it can affect the success or failure of a business of any size. It also taught me how to think in terms of business strategy and operations.

What does your Senior Account Manager role include? What does your average day look like?
My role includes conducting presentations on the phone and in person with clients, delivering our company's value to public relations agencies as well as direct brands. My day consists of outreach to past clients as well as prospecting for new clients and following up with current clients to make sure they have what they need to succeed using our tactic. I also must strategically plan how to suceed at my duties to be an asset to the overall sales team.

What is an exciting challenge you face in your position?
Currently, my territory hasn’t really been focused on in the last few years. It’s exciting to re-engage past clients and introduce myself to new business territories, educating them on what exciting things we are now doing as a company. The major challenge that I find exciting is determining the strategy to grow my territory to what it was in the past.

What projects and initiatives are you most looking forward to in the near future?
I’m most looking forward to repositioning what Family Features is as a company with our new initiatives and program options that will allow us to grow in many new areas. This will allow us to use the solid 40-year history as a foundation to become an even greater partner to our clients we have had for several years, as well as the new clients that will benefit.

Using three words, how would you describe Family Features' work environment and culture, and why?
Progressive – We are moving in a great direction and becoming proactive in the industry in which we have become a staple.
Supportive – I feel like my opinion matters in the decisions that are being made and I am being heard.
Family – I feel like the company cares about its employees and our clients as if they were family, sometimes even being honest when that may not be the easiest road to travel.

What do you enjoy most about Family Features?
I am really enjoying the direction that the company is going now. I love the ability to experiment with new things and think outside of the box when it comes to what will work best for our clients. It’s always been a great service that we sell; now we are building upon that to make the results really count towards what our clients are wanting to accomplish. steve blog photo2 for blog min

How does your role at Family Features differ from previous sales-related jobs?
With my background in media advertising sales, this is truly more of a consultative sales role. I can better determine what clients need and help them choose a program that fits the metrics they are looking for in a long-term strategy. I also love the fact that I get the opportunity to work with national public relations agencies and direct brands representing products that I have used or currently use in my day-to-day life.

What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, trying new restaurants, having game nights and watching live theater. I’m an addicted foodie, so that always makes life grand in my opinion, except having to be in the gym as a result.
